We are delighted to announce that the Bedfordshire Bonsai Society will now be visiting The Olde Watermill Shopping Village on the first Saturday of each month between April and October.
Bedfordshire Bonsai Society is a friendly group of bonsai enthusiasts who meet monthly. The society was formed in 1979 by Dennis Linsdell when he realised that a steady growing interest in the art would be best served by getting those interested in Bonsai together to exchange views, ideas and practical experience.
Come along and visit them to learn about all things Bonsai, pick up some tips for beginner or more advanced levels and learn more about a membership.
Bedfordshire Bonsai Society will be visiting us on the following dates:
Saturday 2nd April 2022
Saturday 7th May 2022
Saturday 4th June 2022
Saturday 2nd July 2022
Saturday 6th August 2022
Saturday 3rd September 2022
Saturday 1st October 2022
The origins of Bonsai started in China, but in more recent times it has been developed by the Japanese, who are generally accepted to be the modern masters of the art.
A bonsai is a tree or shrub grown in a container. This form of horticulture was developed in the Far East where it is considered an expression of the harmony between heaven and earth. Its spiritual foundations lie in the eastern philosophy of life, between man and nature along with the process of all growth and development, which is encapsulated in the art of Bonsai.
